Statistical Analysis Centre changes its name to Data Curation Centre

With the goal of better reflecting the mandate and day-to-day activities of the Centre, the Statistical Analysis Centre has changed its name to the Data Curation Centre, or DCC.

CLSA epigenetics data now available

Epigenetics data from nearly 1,500 participants in the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) are now available for access by approved researchers.

Larry, 60, is a social worker, marathoner, and disability rights advocate. He joined the CLSA in 2014.

Q: Could you share with us a little about your journey with aging?

I was in a bad car accident in 1990 where I sustained a brain injury and I made myself some promises after that. One of the promises was (I was 30 years of age at the time) that I’d return back to work one day, and the other one was to run a marathon because I couldn’t walk. What I found is that running the marathon was easy, changing people’s minds was not.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your path before joining the CLSA My name is Marc Bedard, and I am currently a fourth-year doctoral student in clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa. It’s hard to fathom at this stage of my career, but I have officially spent over 10 years in post-secondary education.

Dr. Parminder Raina, lead principal investigator of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA), has been named a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, considered one of the highest honours for members of the country’s health sciences community.

What is your name?

Hi! My name is Lavanya Huria, and I am 21 years old. I am majoring in Economics with minors in Statistics and Management at McGill University, so my classes are generally quite varied. I am originally from India, but I moved to Dubai in 2005, and I grew up there before moving to Montreal for my undergraduate degree.
